How often are you holding these classes? 2017-08-04T02:26:02+00:00

The basic courses, Pregnancy and Postpartum courses will be offered twice a year in the Longmont, CO area and the Advanced Retreat will be held once a year.

We are looking for hosts in other cities to hold these classes so if you are interested in learning more about hosting one or both of the basic classes please email us and we will give you the details of what’s involved.

Do I have to attend the courses in a particular order? 2017-08-03T23:57:09+00:00

While it is not necessary to take them in a particular order, the Pregnancy course is more like a Level 1 class to learn the techniques and then the Postpartum course expands on these techniques so it can be helpful to do it in this order.  However you can take the basic courses in either order but must have attended both before going on the Advanced Retreat.

Do you offer classes that don’t include pelvic floor/internal work? 2017-08-03T23:58:23+00:00

At this point in time, the classes are only being offered with internal assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles.  If your profession does not allow you to do internal work on your clients, you can choose to abstain from doing the internal work in the class or you can participate in and see how learning this aspect can help you understand more about your external work.

The pregnancy course only has 2 internal labs while the postpartum course spends a full day doing internal assessments and treatments.

How does the certification process work? 2017-08-04T01:54:24+00:00

To become certified as a Birth Healing Expert, you need to attend all three courses, the two basis courses, Pregnancy and Postpartum, and attend the Advanced Training Retreat.

After each course there is a written exam that needs to be passed by 85%.  You can retake the exam within two weeks time.

After both basic courses are taken you will need to set up a Skype session with Lynn and have a patient to work on during the call.  5 random techniques will be selected for you to perform on your patient as Lynn observes.  Hand placement, motion, assessment and treatment will be assessed for each skill.   Scoring will be based on a 3 point system with a total of 12 points for each skill.   A score of 50/60 points or above is needed to pass.

If you do not pass, reassessments are possible at an additional cost.

Once you have completed the courses you will also need to write up 2 cases studies per course based on the information covered.  A total of 6 write ups must be submitted to gain your certification: 2 pregnant clients, 2 postpartum clients and 2 clients you’ve worked with using the advanced techniques.   Each write up needs to include your clients original complaint, what you assessed and how you treated and the results of those treatments and should be limited to 1-2 pages maximum.

Further questions regarding this certification process should be emailed to Lynn@InstituteForBirthHealing.com.
