Landy Peek | Get Curious
Show Notes:
Do you ever have doubts when working with a client? Do you wonder if you are not good enough? What happens when you allow yourself to move out of doubt and instead get curious in your client sessions?
In today’s podcast, Lynn speaks with Occupational Therapist, Landy Peek, about her experience supporting students from the Birth Healing Intensive and the overlying themes she finds in working with practitioners and clients.
During the Birth Healing Intensive, students receive four 1:1 sessions – 2 with Landy and 2 with Lynn. The 1:1 sessions are designed to help students integrate the material they are learning in a private setting, so they have the ability to take a client further in their healing process. Students get an opportunity to talk about where they need more support, to walk through case studies to discuss what did not land for them or their client, and to talk about ideas on how they can incorporate what they are learning into their own clinical practice.
A theme that universally students and clients struggle with is I am not good enough – professionally or personally. Deeper than that is I am not enough. This belief can shape how the clinician looks at clients and the world. Shifting this belief can lead to expansion for the clinician and the clients they work with.
The ability to connect with one’s intuition is another theme. In the medical field intuition is not always valued. Yet many experienced clinicians rely on it without realizing it. Following intuition can increase the ease of the session and take the pressure off because the session really becomes client-led, so Landy’s and Lynn’s advice is to get curious and see where your intuition takes you.
