Goal Setting With the Institute for Birth Healing

Goal Setting and How IBH Can Help!

At the start of every New Year, traditions abound in helping us to make changes or manifest new things for the coming year. Some people set goals, others choose words or themes to help guide them, some create vision boards, and others do nothing. No matter how you start the New Year, if you want to grow as a pelvic health practitioner, the Institute for Birth Healing is here to help!

Where Do You Want to Go?

For me personally, I choose words or themes to guide my year. For 2025, I want to focus on growth, connection and CHOICE. I always have a choice in everything I do, and when I recognize this and become aware of my choices, I can be more intentional in choosing things that support where I want to go and that bring a spark to my being.

In my work this year, I want to expand the reach of this education into as many practitioner’s hands as possible, so moms get the care they need and practitioners feel energized and enlivened by the empowering and important work they are doing. I also want to be the best therapist I can be, so I choose continuing education that supports my growth and provides that to my clients. In addition, I want to be the best person I can be, so growing and expanding my connection to spirit helps me do that as well.

Where do you want to go this year? What do you want to manifest or bring forth in your life? Have you taken a moment to think about it and sit with the answers?

Where we focus our attention is often what grows, so knowing where you want to go is incredibly important. It prevents you from wandering aimlessly or spinning in circles. It gives you a sense of purpose and a way to turn thoughts into real results.

If the Institute for Birth Healing can help support you with what you want to grow this year, we would love to help. Here are some of the areas that will help you grow your knowledge, confidence and passion as a pelvic health practitioner:

Want to learn better practices with your pregnant clients?

The theme of the 2025 Birth Healing Summit is Pregnancy Care Reimagined. All the experts speaking at the Summit share ways to support pregnant clients in ways you might not have imagined before. The Summit brings together practitioners from multiple heath care disciplines to help us expand our understanding beyond our specific professional vantage point. It allows us to grow and become better practitioners as we learn new perspectives and ways of working with the pregnant population. I love learning from midwives, other bodyworkers, and OBGYNs. Coming up in the 2025 Summit, you will hear an interview I did with a Shiatzu practitioner who shared some fabulous pieces I had never considered before because I am not normally looking through that lens. I canā€™t wait to share all the interviews with you. The Summit starts April 7, 2025, and is a great way to learn the latest in pregnancy care. Keep a look out for our emails at the end of March to register.

Another way you can improve your care for pregnant clients is to save the dates for a new online course coming out in May that will be focusing on the ins and outs of working with pregnant clients. The course is still in the works, but I can tell you it will give you more skills to confidently work with your pregnant clients and help prepare their body for birth.  Stay tuned and join in for the first cohort.

Last but certainly not least is one of my most in demand courses, the Holistic Treatment of the Pregnant Body. This course is available online and has a live in-person training option as well. It is packed with manual techniques and gets into how to work with the body and mind as a whole to create deeper and lifelong healing. This is a fantastic course and should definitely be on your list if you work with pregnant clientele. If you are new to working with pregnant clients then start with the new course coming in May and then come to this one. I promise it will absolutely have a positive impact on your treatments and your results.

Want to build a stronger foundation in internal work?

Two courses come to mind to help you do so.Ā  The Internal Pelvic Floor Treatment course helps establish a more holistic foundation of when the body is ready for internal work versus us just assuming it is.Ā  This course is as much for practitioners new to internal work and will give those who have been doing this work without the best results a different and supportive approach to intravaginal work that will result in better outcomes and with less work!Ā Ā

The Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body course is the GOLD standard for intravaginal work to support the body in a strong postpartum recovery. I teach a protocol in this course of how to approach the structures internally that goes way beyond just the muscles. Youā€™ll learn how to work with the bladder, cervix, and then address the pelvic floor muscles.Ā  If you arenā€™t addressing these other structures internally, you are missing a huge piece to the puzzle for helping your postpartum clients heal as the muscles are intimately affected by the bladder and cervix.Ā  I love sharing this knowledge with practitioners because it really makes their intravaginal work way more effective.Ā

Want to be more effective in relieving your clientā€™s pain?

When it comes to helping with back or pelvic pain understanding how to effectively address the pelvis is critical.Ā Treating the Postpartum Pelvis will give you the biggest bang for your buck and in the shortest timeframe. You will learn how birth impacts the pelvis and how to identify and treat the most common postpartum patterns in the body to create effective change and alleviate client pain. This course is a great launching point as you will get a baseline for working with the techniques to build your confidence and prepare you for the deeper work covered in the Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body course.

The Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body course is a great next step and essential for anyone working with postpartum clients. As mentioned, this course is the GOLD and gives you 40+ techniques for working with the postpartum body including lots of pelvic mobilizations that are must knows for effective healing.Ā I love hearing from my students how they got those clients who were plateauing completely better after taking this course.Ā  The skills you learn in the Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body course can be used on anyone and will amaze you in terms of the shift you will see in client outcomes.

Want to uplevel your results and have LOTS of FUN doing it?

Consider becoming certified as a Certified Birth Healing Practitioner.  When you go through the certification process your understanding and learning goes to a much deeper level and your clinical outcomes improve.  Being able to support your clients with trauma, emotions, or stuck tissues not wanting to release is so much easier with the knowledge and skills learned in the certification process. Itā€™s important to remember that you only retain 20-30% of what you learn in a course the first time. When you review it or look at it from multiple angles, as you need to do in the certification process, you retain more.

Students who have become certified have shared that through the certification process, they were able to integrate the learning much more deeply, so they felt more confident and were able to get results that exceeded their expectations. And something I love geeking out about with my certified students is how much more FUN sharing this work with others becomes.Ā Ā

Feeling drained, or burned out?

If you are burned out, or thinking of quitting, I encourage you to take one of the Holistic Treatment courses (and live in person if you are able to do so). You will learn a new way of working with the body that is way more fun and enjoyable.Ā  People need you and your skills to support them in their healing.Ā  Learn how to do so in a way that empowers both you and your clients!Ā  There is another way of doing things that makes it easier for you and I will show you exactly what it is in my Holistic Treatment courses.Ā

Want to grow more confidence in your skills?

While you can learn online with all my courses, if you want to really make sure you are doing the techniques correctly, consider attending a Live Holistic Treatment course with me.  We practice all the techniques on one another during the course (don’t be surprised if you find an ache or pain you’ve been dealing with for a while disappears, too – as this often happens to a student in the live sessions).  I had one student ask, ā€œTo which of these techniques do I owe the thanks for not knowing my period was starting? I used to always have cramps – they didnā€™t show up this time.ā€

Itā€™s so fun to see the changes in the students’ bodies and the growth in confidence as you get worked on, as you learn these skills, as you practice these techniques on multiple bodies, and as I share feedback with you on your techniques to help ensure you are doing them correctly.  Plus, as Iā€™m always learning, in live courses, I share the latest and greatest that Iā€™ve heard of or learned from my work with my clients. Last best thing, our classes are very intimate so you can be assured you will get lots of personal attention and you will also, likely, leave with some starts to new friendships or, at a minimum, an expanded network.
