What is Holistic Treatment?

Holistic Treatment Approach
to Speed Up Recovery and Promote Complete Healing

“Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and emotions — in the quest for optimal health and wellness,” according to WebMD. And the holistic medicine philosophy suggests one can achieve optimal health — the primary goal of holistic medicine practice — by gaining proper balance in life.

The Institute for Birth Healing’s definition and philosophy is in alignment with WebMD and adapted to define our unique approach to pelvic health for pregnant and postpartum clients.

Our definition:

Holistic treatment is a form of healing that considers the whole person – body, mind, spirit, and emotions – with a specific focus on the energy flow within the body, better known as “chi” – in the quest for optimal pelvic health and function before and after birth – to gain proper balance in life.

Principles of Holistic Treatment

A widely accepted holistic principle is “based on the belief that unconditional love and support is the most powerful healer and a person is ultimately responsible for their health and well-being.”

Our Principles:

  • Assess and treat the whole person; their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
  • A collaborative approach that involves the client and the practitioner.
  • Treatment involves addressing the root cause of the condition, not the symptoms.
  • All treatments are customized to meet the individual needs of the client.

Our holistic treatment principles and approach are the foundation of our courses. All focus on the body, mind, spirit, and emotions approach to healing the common and not-so-common pregnancy and postpartum issues. Students learn to combine manual techniques with sensory and intuitive practices to speed up recovery and promote complete healing. This combination uses the body’s wisdom, scientific knowledge, and energy flow to guide the treatment and inspire healing.
