  1. I’m wondering about the rule “never create pain.” Another teacher that I had described “good pain” vs “bad pain,” and taught us to ask the client (during trigger point release). If the client said it was “good pain” based on their intuition, we could continue. I have experienced this myself, like when receiving trigger point release in my obliques.

    1. Lynn Schulte says:

I tell my clients to let me know if anything feel too much. Sometime a burning sensation can develop as we are releasing scar tissue and while I get trigger points I don’t treat trigger points. When you listen to the tissues and address either the boney alignment or mobility the muscles let go more easily. So I want to be careful in answering your question because while I get what you are saying I still want you to be listening to the body and tissues and seeing what they have to say versus here is a painful point let me just put pressure here for a bit, even it if is a “good” pain. I do get the oh that is intense but feels so good from the client and that is ok. Just remember my #1 Rule: ALWAYS RESPECT THE TISSUES!
