  1. Keshia Bradford says:

Can there be an open birthing pattern present when a patient has had a miscarriage? Or this only for babies that are full term?

    1. Lynn Schulte says:

I have noticed it in others who never birthed prior but did have a miscarriage so I’m guessing that is an energetic opening?!?! Don’t really know. That’s why it’s so important to be open to assess and treat what you find! The body is amazing and definitely surprising!

  2. Casie Danenhauer says:

Thinking a lot here about pre-existing pelvic misalignment- specifically related to scoliosis and spinal rotation patterns. Have you noticed any patterns or special considerations with these patients? Do open birthing patterns tend to exaggerate the pelvic shifts that might have already been in place?

    1. Lynn Schulte says:

It all depends on the shape and curve of the scoliosis how it impacts the birth. Higher up thoracic spinal rotations can have more play in baby’s position but not as much play in the pelvis opening up. Pelvic misalignments from scoliosis will possibly impact both baby’s postion and pelvis opening for birth. You have to assess and treat what you find. Yes to the open birthing pattern exaggerating an existing pattern in the pelvis.

  3. Sabrina Lutes says:

I was told at one point that allowing my back to sway and move more lordotic was beneficial in pregnancy, which I thing os what you are saying in the neutral pelvis in standing. But now over the years I am seeing professionals recommending tucking the pelvis under and that hasn’t made sense. Am I missing something that they are trying to say or am I correct that what I was told while I was pregnant is actually what we should see. Thank you!

    1. Lynn Schulte says:

I too agree, we need that lordotic curve in our spine and I don’t beleive is having too much. Our spine is strongest in that position. Minimizing it gets people into trouble I think!
