Not always. Our pelvic floor can do both contraction and relaxation with humming but for birth our focus needs to be on the relaxation and lengthening. It’s just another way to try to get it. Also add lower tone and more volume to the hum to see if that changes the muscles response.

I also try to have them hum the baby down once they get to midpelvis as one way to keep them calm and out of the SNS.
