The lower abdominal fascial release can be done at anytime, the uterine ligaments I wait until the uterus has shrunk back down before doing any of them but that is just because I don’t see anyone that early on. If they are having pain and you are respectful of the tissues and don’t create pain I don’t see any contraindication for doing them.
Tenderness means something isn’t right in the tissues. I start by doing a more general holding of the area and see what my hands sense. There may be trauma being held in the tissues, see if you can sense into that. The Trauma release statement may help, check out my podcast on that. Don’t create pain, work around the area with surrounding tissues and see if that helps. Good luck!
What about a client is so ticklish that she can’t tolerate any touch on this area or even above the iliac crests. Is this a sign of dysfunction or is she just hypersensitive?
It can be a sign of dysfunction or it could just be them being ticklish. I like to try to use as firm of a pressure as possible when someone is ticklish or find a way to work around the area if possible. Good luck!
Are there any time restrictions for performing these abdominal techniques post partum? Thank you!
