pain melt away

Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body
“This course totally reinvented the way I approach a person coming into my treatment room . . .
I have many tools to use when the first approach doesn’t work – bones, then release tissues, then release fears/apprehensions…I don’t get frustrated because I have a series of steps to use instead of one way of looking at the pelvis/body.
I finally feel I leave my day with a sense of real connection, accomplishment and feel I did a good job. I feel more connected to my own body, and I am not burned out even after a 9 – 10 hour day!” – Lori B., Physical Therapist
Treating postpartum clients doesn’t have to be a complex and frustrating process
Whether you’re brand new or have been doing this for years, the complexity of issues in postpartum treatment can feel overwhelming
Clients keep reporting the same persistent pains and it breaks your heart (and your confidence) when it’s still going on years after they’ve had their baby.
You know there has to be a better way to treat this under-served population that deserves more. Now for the good news: There is! – Keep reading . . .
You don’t want more theory, you want techniques and manual skills that get your clients off the table pain-free and quickly
Maybe you’ve taken other courses before and came home with a binder full of information that you’re not quite sure how to put into practice.
What you really want is to feel more confident with the techniques and your clinical hands-on skills. You want to know exactly what abnormalities to look for in the postpartum body, so you can treat the right area effectively.
It’s time to get out of your head and into your hands, with newfound confidence.
“It’s refreshing to FINALLY have treatment options available rather than just the knowledge”
“Every patient has stood up from the table and immediately felt better…”
It’s not just about getting results…
You also want to feel excited and confident again, like Melissa
“I have practiced PT for 30 years and have never had the results I have been experiencing since I started taking courses offered at Institute for Birth Healing. Not only are they astounding, but they can also be immediate. I have never felt so confident and excited about treating new patients!”

LAB: Sacral Flexion Treatment Supine
INTENTION: To mobility the sacrum into extension to get out of flexed pattern.
PATIENT POSITION | Supine |
HAND POSITION | Hand under sacrum with palm at level of S3-4 |
DIRECTION OF MOTION | Force is directed straight up toward the ceiling |
ASSESSMENT | To see how the sacrum moves into extension |
TREATMENT | Load the sacrum into extension(toward ceiling) to end range and wait for the tissues to soften and release. |
Special Notes: Do not create pain with your treatment. Work on other tissues first then come back and see if less painful. If only one coccygeus muscle has tone, it’s not a sacral flexion pattern but part of the common open birthing pattern. You can learn to treat this in the Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body Course.

“My practice was revolutionized after taking this course . . .
If you work with ANY postpartum clients (which is every woman after birth, forever after birth), this course will dramatically improve your outcomes, dramatically improve your word-of-mouth marketing, and dramatically increase your knowledge and confidence working with this specific group of women.
My practice was revolutionized after taking this course – if you are on the fence debating about it in your head: stop debating!!!!! This class topped all my [continuing education] courses – it was by far supreme, in every way. Take this class! You’ll be glad you did!” – Julie K., Physical Therapist
The No.1 thing that most surprises our students?
Just how easy it is to put the online course techniques into practice with your clients…
One student in 2024 told us: “I found that learning online with your videos actually helped me learn the material better than a live course because I could stop the video and check anatomy or play it back for greater depth of learning.”
“Her descriptions, demonstrations, and use of repetition made me feel like I was right there in the room with her…
“I feel very confident in the manual skills despite it being online…”

Course Unit Sneak Peek: Diaphragm Release
We asked our students what else surprised them about this course, and here’s what they told us . . .
“How fast changes can happen.
Treating under the pelvic girdle instead of in prone.
Addressing the ligaments – never really knew ligaments had as much movement and “pliability” as we were able to feel on the course.
The emotional experiences being held in the tissues – this is NOT taught in regular courses and is paramount to helping people.”
-Lori B., Physical Therapist for 10+ years
“The volume of the manual techniques!”
-Anonymous
“The volume of techniques taught.
Also how often tears flowed for people during treatment, and the gift that it is to be able to access these hurts and move them on, through mostly physical practice.”
-Anonymous
“The amount of information I received about the state of my own body. The self exam opened my eyes to major imbalances within my internal pelvis. It was the part of the course I was the most nervous about, but it was like a light turning on that illuminated all the pieces of the entire body puzzle.”
-Jennifer F., Bodyworker for 10+years
“The amount of hands-on knowledge, and also how the course looks at the body in a very systemic way”
-Melvina K, Physical Therapist for 2+ years
“The link between pelvic bones and the PFM. You got to find the ‘why’ the PFM are upregulated rather than beating them into submission (temporarily).”
-Leisa L, Physical Therapist for 10+ years
“I wasn’t expecting bimanual treatment skills, but I loved that! It was my first intro to treating bimanually. It’s been very helpful when I can’t get the pelvic floor to let go to add in treatment to the bony structures as well.”
-Sabrina T., Physical Therapist for 6+ years

Got a question?
We’ve listed our FAQ below, but if yours isn’t answered here, please email support@instituteforbirthhealing.com
What makes this course different from others?
This hands-on and clinically focused course provides more than 40 techniques that can be immediately applied in practice. Unlike other programs that emphasize theory, this course takes a holistic, full-body approach, making treatments more efficient and effective. It’s designed to boost your confidence and improve your results, no matter how long you’ve been practicing.
What do I learn in this course?
This course encompasses the whole body treatment of your postpartum clients to get to the root cause of pain and dysfunction from pregnancy and birth. You will learn to feel for energy in the body and how to palpate the body to see if the pelvis still wants to birth postpartum. You’ll learn uterine and pelvic mobilizations, abdominal techniques for the core, releases for the ribcage and diaphragm, as well as the intravaginal protocol (including the Schulte hold) to help the pelvic muscles work better with less work. There are more than 40 techniques inside this course that you can begin to use immediately.
What is a group cohort for the online course?
In addition to the regular benefits of a self-paced online course, our group cohort model gives you extra support and resources for a 1 – 2 month duration (depending on the length of the course) as you complete your course on your schedule. You will still have Lifetime Access to the online course, but you will receive these additional benefits:
- Go through your course with a group of other practitioners, so you get the benefits of a community with an online course
- Get guidance and support from Lynn and the IBH staff
- Gain 6 month access to a private online community
- Join Lynn on Live Group Zoom Calls to review the content and get your questions answered (number of calls depends on length of course)
- Celebrate your completion of the course together with your cohort (virtual graduation ceremony on last group call for those who have completed the course)
- Get access to the call recording(s)
- Receive weekly check-ins via email with tips and extras
What are the dates and times of the Live calls for the 2024 group cohort for the online course?
The next group cohort starts on September 30, 2024. Calls will take place at 6pm Mountain Time (5pm Pacific Time, 8pm Eastern Time) on the following dates:
- September 30, 2024
- October 22, 2024
- November 20, 2024
- December 17, 2024
These calls are bonus calls where you can ask Lynn anything, review techniques together, and hold yourself accountable as you go through the online course. They are not mandatory calls — but they are a great extra for your education if you can make them!
Are the group cohort calls recorded?
Yes, the live group calls are recorded and posted to the private community forum for each cohort within 2 business days of the live call. If you can’t make the call? Email Lynn your questions beforehand and she’ll answer them in the call.
I want to do a live in-person training, but the dates/locations don’t work for me. Should I wait?
The online course is a prerequisite for the live in-person training, so we recommend starting the online course now. You can pay the difference to attend in-person training when dates and locations work for you.
Students always tell us how easy it is to put the online course techniques into practice with their clients without attending the in-person training, so there’s no reason why you can’t start immediately.
Who is this course for?
All pelvic health practitioners, including PTs, OTs, and other bodyworkers, and anyone with a license to touch the body.
If you’re new and want to build more confidence in your skills or even open your own practice, this is for you.
If you’re experienced but feeling frustrated with the lack of results from traditional methods and are looking for new, effective techniques, this is for you.
In short, If you want to get your clients pain-free results quicker, this is for you!
Can I do the online course on its own, or do I need to attend the live in-person training as well?
You can just do the online course (many of our students only do the online course) — the live in-person training days are fantastic if you are able to attend, as you get a chance to get individual instruction and support from Lynn and the IBH staff, you see a live demo of Lynn utilizing the techniques, and there is organic education that comes out during each live session.
Take a look at the next section below to better understand the difference between the two options.

About Your Instructor
Lynn Schulte, PT
Lynn has been a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist for over 30 years and is the principal instructor/founder at the Institute for Birth Healing. She has been helping moms heal from all types of issues women experience after birth and is now teaching courses to physical therapists to share her expertise. After working with thousands of women, she discovered something they all had in common: the “Open Birthing Pattern.” The Open Birthing Pattern results from the pelvic bones and muscles not returning to normal positioning, mobility, and function after birth, creating pain, discomfort, and dysfunction. All of our courses focus on a holistic approach, assessments, and treatment techniques to relieve pain and discomfort and restore function.
Is This Course For You?
Still on the fence?
We’ll let our students take it from here . . .
“Prior to completing this course I felt confident in my ability to treat the postpartum body, however, upon completion of this course I am now able to close the gaps in knowledge that I wasn’t even aware I had because the course material and instructor were so thorough in addressing all possible causes of dysfunction and/or pain in the postpartum patient. I highly recommend this course to all PTs/OTs who treat in the pelvic health space.” – Chanol O., Physical Therapist
“Usually after attending a multi day course I need to unwind a bit and go over the material again before trying it out on patients. I went to work the day after this course and immediately applied techniques I learned in the course. I was excited to try several techniques that first day and patients loved it. Lynn going over the techniques each day helped significantly in retaining the information and feeling confident in applying the techniques right away.” – Jeanine J., Physical Therapist
“This course was amazing! Lots of labs with strategies to immediately implement in the clinic. Every postpartum mom would benefit from this kind of work! If you’re treating postpartum, this course is a must take.” – Ashley H., Physical Therapist
“I love how Lynn combines her knowledge from various schools of thought and past experiences to treat the whole patient. She incorporates and covers a combination of manual mobilizations, visceral techniques, myofascial release work and exercise strategies to help get the best results. I don’t have to go to eight different courses and take a little from here, a little from there. Lynn did that work for us! I am grateful I got the opportunity to take part in her amazing work.” – Deborah D., Physical Therapist
“This course truly is a holistic treatment of the postpartum body. Seeing the process live and in person was like nothing I have experienced before. I am so excited to integrate these treatment approaches into my practice. Thank you for sharing this information with the world, it is going to make such an impact in postpartum care. This course should be the first class pelvic health therapists take when learning internal and external work.” – Kelsie K., Occupational Therapist
“I am more aware of people’s energies and what trauma they are carrying in their bodies. I understand how important it is to help these women reconnect to their bodies and help them respect/accept the amazing feat their body accomplished. I stand up for my patients when they are gaslit by a medical provider.” – Jennifer W., Physical Therapist
“This is the best course in postpartum treatment that I have ever taken. It was thorough with ton of hands on, and support to fully understand and implement the material. I cannot wait to take the pregnancy course.” – Elodie S., LMT
“Lynn was a passionate, engaging and knowledgeable instructor who made sure her students grasped the content of the course. I was thrilled to apply, with confidence, several of the techniques I learned over the 3 days immediately upon returning to the office. This work will be life changing to both myself as a professional and to the women I care for. Thank you!” – Christi C., Physical Therapist
“Lynn’s approach of integrated, holistic therapy for the post-partum client made the difference. Even in the online format the respectful and compassionate approach was communicated effectively that helped me persist in this challenging but rewarding area. Her techniques helped my patients see an immediate difference with a huge impact on quality of life.” – Maitreyi N., Physical Therapist
“This class totally changed my treatment, how I interact with the body as well as the treatment tools to help heal it. Learning about the common postpartum patterns in the body and how to bring them back is a game changer! I have been practicing on my clients while taking this course and already I feel like it is making a huge difference!” – Natalie G., Occupational Therapist
“I learned so much about the alignment and mobilization of the pelvis with manual techniques. I have been able to implement them immediately into practice for great results! I love how Lynn teaches us how to intuitively listen to the body!” – Kathryn C., Physical Therapist
“Wonderful course! Learned so much for the postpartum mom. Love all the techniques that I can easily use the next day in the clinic. The best part about this course is you learn so many different techniques so you have more tools in your toolbox when you need them! Thank you!” – Tara B., Physical Therapist
“AMAZING! I was able to implement the techniques immediately and saw amazing results in my patients. Getting to learn in person from Lynn and ask questions was absolutely a game changer. I feel more confident with my post-partum clients and can’t wait to take the other courses! Definitely recommend!” – Meg S., Physical Therapist
